Participatory Internet refers to a series of modern web applications that enable users to participate and the two-way operation of the services provided. According to a definition , it is a collection of open source, two-way applications that are controlled by the users that make them, at the same time shareholders in the operational and social processes that are performed on the Internet. It also contributes to the creation of informal communication networks between users, thus enabling the creation, dissemination and processing of information.
The main categories of Internet services that are part of the participative Internet are: 1) blogs, 2) social networks, myspaces, facebook, and others, 3) communities hosting content from users, such as youtube, flicklr, 4) various forums and 5) content aggregators, without which it is difficult to locate exponentially increasing content.
As the ebusinessforum workshop notes, Web 2.0 deployment brings critical changes to consumer behavior patterns and, more generally, to how users search, evaluate, produce, buy and consume information, products and services. This is because users are turning to search engines of social services instead of conventional search engines, or because they consult other users through blogs and other services that host user feedback and so on.
It is clear that the profile of the consumer is changing, as he becomes more informed, and they are trying to take advantage of the business by targeting the semantic Internet.
